Neuro-AI Interfaces: The Next Frontier of Human-AI Interaction

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has a significant impact on our society yet research into the interaction between humans and AI deserves further exploration and has only recently become a research focus. Cognitive computation provides a way of using cognitively inspired techniques to solve a variety of real-world problems and these become especially useful when the interface between an AI system and a human is via a brain-computer interface (BCI). In this presentation, I will talk about one research line of my PhD work, which discusses the feasibility of interacting between human neural systems and deep neural networks.

Short Bio

Zhengwei has finished his PhD in the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at Dublin City University, where his research is carried out in the areas of neuroscience and deep learning. His PhD focuses on using brain-computer interfaces (BCI) for decision making during interaction with digital media.  Zhengwei completed his Ph.D. thesis entitled "Cortically Coupled Image Computing" in the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at Dublin City University. He holds M.Sc. in Advanced Control System Engineering at The University of Manchester and BEng in Electronic Engineering at Maynooth University. His research interest spans areas such as neuroscience, deep learning and computer vision.
